Instructions for Gastroscopy Preparation

Please re-read all instructions at lease 2 days before your gastroscopy preparation.

If you are taking any medications, including aspirin or aspirin-containing products, please discuss with the doctor any additional instructions before beginning this preparation.

ON THE DAY BEFORE EXAMINATION:

Nothing to eat or drink after midnight the night before the procedure;

ON THE MORNING OF THE GASTROSCOPY EXAMINATION:

Be there no later than one full hour before your scheduled procedure time.

YOU WILL BE GIVEN MEDICATIONS BEFORE THE GASTROSCOPY THAT WILL MAKE YOU DROWSY AFTERWARDS. IT IS NY STATE LAW THAT SOMEONE MUST PICK YOU UP, TO TAKE YOU HOME, WHEN YOU ARE READY TO LEAVE. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS LAW. IF YOU COME ALONE ANDDO NOT PROVIDE THE NAME AND TELEPHONE NUMBER OF YOUR "ESCORT" TO TAKE YOU HOME, THE EXAMINATION WILL NOT BE DONE.
