COVID-19 Announcement - Office Reopening

We plan to reopen the office on Tuesday, May 19th

Initially, office hours will be limited to Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 830 to 1130 AM, with the last appointment at 1130.
We hope to resume Monday afternoon hours as soon as possible.

All visits will be by appointment ONLY. No "walk-ins" will be permitted.

During this COVID pandemic, our number one priority is to maintain your safety, the safety of other patients, and our staff. Please do not proceed to make an appointment if you or a close contact are sick with COVID, if you have a test pending for COVID, or if you have any symptoms of COVID, including cough or fever. Please allow 3 weeks for the resolution of any symptoms, and currently be without COVID-related symptoms before making an appointment.

Face masks are mandatory at all times. All patients will receive temperature scans, and only those without fevers will be permitted to enter.

Patients are asked to come alone. If you must come with an escort, the escort must wear a mask, and have no fever or other symptoms of COVID.

In order to minimize patient contact in the office, proper social distancing will be maintained. To make this possible, you will be required to arrive on time for your appointment. Patients who arrive early will be asked to wait outside the office, and will be called in at the appropriate time. Patients who arrive late may be asked to reschedule their appointments.

Endoscopies will be prioritized on the basis of urgency, with elective screening procedures having the lowest priority. All procedures will require COVID pre-testing, and all patients scheduled for procedures must test negative for the virus within 48 hours of the scheduled procedure.

NEW PATIENTS should click on Patient Portal, then click on Patient Forms, and print out the Patient Information Forms and HIPAA Private Notice. These should be filled out completely, in advance of your visit, and brought with you at the time of your initial visit. This will facilitate your visit and help maintain social distancing.

About NY Gastroenterology & Digestive Disorders

Stuart Finkel, MD, of NY Gastroenterology & Digestive Disorders has been an esteemed member of Upper East Side, New York City’s medical community for more than 40 years. In addition to being board-certified in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Finkel is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine and Gastroenterology at the world-renowned medical training center at Mount Sinai, one of the best gastrointestinal training programs in the country.

After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Finkel pursued his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his degree ranked first in his class while serving as president of his chapter of the national medical honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha.

He completed his internship and residency at New York’s Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Gastroenterological and Liver Diseases at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Finkel then began practicing, and since 1978 he has continued to teach endoscopy to the GI Fellows.

Dr. Finkel is proud to announce his affiliation with Midtown Surgical Center, 305 East 47th Street, where he does GI endoscopic procedures (endoscopy, colonoscopy) in a new, state-of-the-art Endoscopy Unit, featuring Olympus endoscopes.

Dr. Finkel knows the unpleasant symptoms of a digestive problem require immediate attention but also understands that discussing the symptoms can be uncomfortable for a patient. That’s why he makes sure that new patients can expect to get an appointment quickly, and that every patient gets the personalized care they need in a comfortable, compassionate environment. Patients can also expect a follow-up within two days, to ensure their treatment is going according to plan.
